All these works are drawings in charcoal and graphite on paper, each a part of a different series, yet touching on a similar idea. A shared view across different experiences that repeat, forming part of a larger picture: an unconscious blueprint of future movements. Forming a grid from a collection of experiences is what fuels my work. Creating alternative realities and landscapes by gathering resources that often appear in common narratives is a process of isolating patterns; analyzing them, extracting the elements that will later shape my work and become an extension of a personal landscape. The subject matter itself varies, yet the approach remains the same. Whether it is the act of intimacy; a space of heightened vulnerability and nakedness, portraiture, or something else, the use of black and white and the close-up nature of the compositions narrow the observer's focus, concentrating on the essential content: only one part of a wider story. Does compassion fatigue, where repetition and redundancy give birth to desensitization, lead to naming individual portraits after emotions rather than people? Numbers define intimacy, and the spectator is confronted with a feeling or trait familiar to them, whether through personal experience or indirectly. All these works stimulate introspection and self-inquiry, a matter of personal decision rather than social consensus. What we see is perceived only within the referential fields we already know — and in this way, we shape the one we look at according to ourselves.
